Are you planning a trip to Trebinje, but can't decide which part of the year is the best to visit?

Trebinje is characterized by a partially changed Mediterranean climate with short, mild winters and long, hot summers, with pleasant autumns and slightly fresher springs. An extremely large number of sunny days, regularly distributed precipitation during the year (rain, and snow is a very rare phenomena) and pleasant temperatures, favour various outdoor activities. So whatever period of the year you decide on, you can hardly go wrong. Every season in this charming Herzegovinian town has its charms, and which one you will choose is a matter of your affinities. Most tourists usually choose to visit the summer months, New Year's and Christmas holidays, or periods when some interesting events take place in the city, such as the city's glory, the famous motorcycle rally, Dučić's evenings of poetry and the like.

If you visit Trebinje in the summer period, there is almost no end to the various contents and activities that attract all generations. Regardless of whether you are a nature lover, a culture of historical sights or some fun events, you will surely find something for yourself. We suggest that you set aside a few days to enjoy romantic walks around the city, drink coffee under the famous plane trees, boat around Trebišnjica, cycle, visit rural households, wineries and restaurants, or refresh yourself at one of Trebinje's numerous picnic spots and bathing spots such as Lastva, Studenac, Ubala or the City of the Sun.

Warm and sunny autumn days provide great conditions for most of the activities already mentioned. We suggest that you take advantage of this advantage and explore the surroundings of the city in addition to the above. An excellent way to do this is to join one of the tours offered by local agencies and in this way, with expert guidance, you can visit the Austro-Hungarian fortresses located on the hills around the city, or ride a bicycle to the largest cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vjetrenica, to which the former route of the famous Ćiro train leads. And if you want to get to know the city in a very special way, there are tandem paragliding flights that offer you the opportunity to see Trebinje from a bird's eye view.

Winter in Trebinje has a special charm, especially during the holidays when everything is full of tourists. A fortunate circumstance is the rather mild winters, so don't be surprised that the gardens of Trebinje cafes never disappear. Every sunny day, especially Saturday mornings at the picturesque town market, Trebinje and numerous guests use it to enjoy a hot drink or a glass of homemade herbal tea. You will often hear that if you want to meet someone in Trebinje, it is enough to sit down in one of the cafes around the market on Saturday morning and that someone will surely pass by the market or maybe even sit down at the table next to you.

If you decide to visit during the New Year holidays, we suggest that you book your accommodation in time because for several years Trebinje has traditionally been among the most visited destinations in the Balkans.

Spring in Trebinje is a special experience, it is the time when the stingy nature of Heregova awakens when the city park resounds with children's cries when the sycamore trees shine in full glory when somehow every corner of this stone town takes on a romantic look. It is noticeable that in recent years many families with children choose the spring period to visit Trebinje. There are numerous reasons for this trend, starting with the almost ideal weather conditions and then numerous contents suitable for the youngest. Various children's activities and events take place around the Easter holidays, so don't be surprised if in the city during the Christian holiday of Vrbice, you meet nicely dressed children with willow wreaths on their heads and bells around their necks walking around the city streets in a cheerful procession.

If you want to provide children with quality and interesting time, we suggest you visit the Museum of Herzegovina, where excellent curators organize thematic workshops for children of different ages. If you are looking for some recreation and relaxation, visit the attractive Dino Park within the City of the Sun, where you can entrust the children to be looked after in the playroom while you relax in the spa centre.

In addition to all of the above, Trebinje offers a lot more that you can see and visit regardless of the season or weather conditions. Here, above all, we mean a tour of the city itself and its cultural and historical monuments, where you will have the opportunity in the very centre to see ancient sculptures that Dučić donated to the city, monuments from different historical periods, interesting architectural solutions, etc. What is particularly interesting is that in just a few hundred meters you can see sacred buildings of all three religions - mosques, an Orthodox church and a Catholic cathedral.

When visiting Trebinje, a visit to Hercegovačka Gračanica, which stands proudly on the Crkvina hill, is an essential item, and from whichever direction you approach the city, it dominates the entire ambience. It is a place from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city, and in whose amphitheatre you can enjoy different cuisines cultural and artistic programs that take place in that place during the year.

In the immediate vicinity of the city, there are several Orthodox monasteries (Tvrdoš, Duži, Zavala, Petro-Pavlov Monastery), which, apart from being places of pilgrimage, also attract a large number of tourists from all over the world thanks to their centuries-old rich history, tradition and artistic value. The Tvrdoš monastery stands out in terms of attendance, within the complex of which there is also a winery.
