About the project

"ReTRail" is a project whose implementation began in April 2022 and is co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany within the comprehensive EU4BusinessRecovery project.

The project is implemented by the Trebinje City Development Agency - TREDEA, in partnership with the Trebinje Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Trebinje City Tourism Organization.

The overall goal of the project is to support the recovery of tourism operators affected by COVID by introducing new outdoor tourism products, valorizing untapped local potentials and using destination management mechanisms.

The project plans to improve tourist facilities in Trebinje through the development of bike/hiking trails, installation of appropriate signage and equipment. Additionally, the capacity of local tourism operators will be strengthened through a series of workshops on various topics, and a digital platform for promoting active tourism and online reservations for future visitors will be developed.

EU4BusinessRecovery, within which "ReTRail" is implemented, is a European Union project that provides support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in mitigating the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is worth 13.7 million euros, and is jointly financed by the European Union (13 million euros) and the Federal Republic of Germany (700 thousand euros). It is implemented by GIZ, ILO, and UNDP.
